ICA Linoleum Flooring
Institute of Contemporary Arts, London
Technique: Laser cut linoleum flooring
Twenty years after commissioning Jennie Moncur to create linoleum flooring for the corridor, stairs and landing linking the galleries, the ICA once again installed her designs.
Initially commissioned in celebration of the ICA's 40th Anniversary in 1987, the linoleum floor had endured daily public footfall over its twenty year life. When celebrating their 60th Anniversary, the ICA chose to refresh and reinstate the original design.
The floor has become part of the building's identity and the Institute of Contemporary Arts strongly felt it should remain. It is a compliment to Jennie Moncur that the ICA highly values this significant piece of work.
In celebration of this collaboration, the ICA used an image taken from the design, for their membership card and accompanying literature.
